The Master's Programme in Materials Science from Uppsala University prepares you to become a materials scientist of the future with a broad and cutting-edge knowledge of the role of materials science in society as well as the structure and properties of materials.

Overview

Studying in the Master's Programme in  Materials Science from Uppsala University means that you get to delve into how materials are built from scratch, what properties they have, how they are used, and how you design, modify and manufacture materials in different research labs. 

In many courses, you will have teachers with both physics and chemistry backgrounds, which gives you the best conditions to get the interdisciplinary foundation required to succeed as a materials scientist. Academic requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university.
  • Also required is 75 credits in physics or 75 credits in chemistry.
Language requirements
  • All applicants need to verify English language proficiency that corresponds to English studies at upper secondary (high school) level in Sweden ("English 6"). 
Selection: Students are selected based on:
  • an overall appraisal of previous university studies; and
  • a statement of purpose (1 page).
