A Pan-European problem in the urban and suburban environment is the revitalization of abandoned and old post-mining and industrial areas, their new use. The so-called brownfields, i.e. abandoned and damaged post-mining, industrial and construction areas, can both endanger public health and create risks to life, and reduce the usable area within urbanized units.
Rehabilitation and regeneration of brownfields is of growing importance for all EU Member States, the renewal of their use is an important contribution to creating the conditions necessary for sustainable development, but on the other hand it requires significant investment. At the same time, it is often a relatively long-term, complex activity, involving a wide range of professional disciplines.
The Brownfields Technical Redevelopment study programme from Technical University of Ostrava, of the master's study is focused on the profiling of graduates - experts for technical solutions for the restoration and reuse of post-industrial, post-mining and related abandoned areas - the so-called brownfields.
