Learning outcomes
Civil Engineering - Geomechanics and Construction Work at CentraleSupélec offers a very wide range of teaching units taught by renowned teachers. The content is largely drawn from the Mechanical Engineering specialisation (common core classes) and the Earth, Planetary and Environmental Sciences specialisation (STePE) for the opening introductory courses). This programme focuses on both academic and industrial research.
The aim of the Master’s degree in Civil Engineering is to provide students with high-level scientific and technological knowledge, which focuses on current industrial challenges in the interaction between mechanics, civil engineering and the environment.
Programme Structure
The training framework covers the following aspects:
- the mechanics of construction materials (concrete, steel, etc.) and natural materials (geomaterials, rocks, etc.);
- the design of structures and infrastructures, their dimensions and vibratory behaviour;
- fluid mechanics and hydraulic flows;
- the strong interaction between soil and buildings;
- exploration and exploitation of reservoirs and storage facilities (water, gas, oil, CO2, waste, etc.);
- basic digital methods for modern structural design.

- Besides admission via the same routes as French candidates, foreign candidates may be able to apply through other specific admission routes: the “international student” competitive entrance exam for Maths and Physics, Physics and Chemistry and Physical and Engineering Sciences is the special “international program” competitive entrance exam for Maths and Physics and Physics and Chemistry.
- The “international student” competitive entrance examinations take place in France. They are similar to the CentraleSupélec competitive entrance examinations, except for the language test and the writing test coefficient. This competitive entrance is reserved and open to non-French candidates who have passed the French Baccalaureate (or a foreign diploma recognised as equivalent thereto for the purposes of their university studies) and who have been educated in French Grandes Écoles Preparatory Classes.
