In the Creative Writing programme at The University of Exeter can be taken over one year full time, or two years part time. In the course of your study you will build a portfolio of creative work for possible publication, including a dissertation in your chosen genre.

Whilst we don’t have a formal deadline for application, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. We close to applications wishing to join us for study in 2022/2023 on Friday 16 September. We advise international applicants to submit a complete application by mid-July.

  • Normally a 2:1 Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • Applicants will be asked to submit a sample of Creative Writing, which can be roughly 2000 words of prose or 3-4 poems.
