Overview
The International Centre for Fundamental Physics Master’s program offers students a wide range of advanced courses to complete their studies in fundamental physics.
The topics developed in the first year Physics Master correspond to the main lines of research in our laboratories in various fields including theoretical physics (high energy physics, condensed matter theory and theoretical plasma physics), mathematical physics, particle physics (theoretical and experimental) and astrophysics, experimental condensed matter physics, nanosciences, optics and plasma physics, atomic physics and the physics of cold atomic gases, the conception and use of major research equipment.
The first year of the Master’s program is divided into four majors:
Major : High Energy Physics
Major : Laser, Optics, Light-Matter Interactions
Major : Condensed Matter Physics
Major : Quantum Technologies
The Year 2 Master’s program allows students to customize their curriculum through the wide choice of courses: theoretical physics, quantum physics, condensed matter physics, macroscopic physics and complexity, as well as many optional courses.
This program prepares students for a PhD in fundamental physics, as well as applied research.
Students will benefit from the facilities and excellence of the Laboratories of Institut Polytechnique de Paris.
Students interested early on by research are advised to apply for a PhD Track in this field (combined Master and PhD). It enables a personalized master program, early immersion in research labs and a progressive development of the thesis studies.
Career:
Students graduating from this program will be equipped to:
- Pursue a PhD
- Following their PhD, access a prestigious academic career in a university or major research organization in France (CNRS, CEA, IN2P3) or abroad
- Embark on a career in applied research in industry
