Our Electric Vehicle Engineering (distance) programme at University West was designed in collaboration with the automotive industry to prepare you for a high-demand career in electric vehicles and electric powertrain.


In this one-year Electric Vehicle Engineering (distance) programme at University West  you will develop an understanding of electric vehicles and electric powertrain. Your programme will cover the main aspects of design, testing and development within electric vehicles, with mechanical engineering as the foundation.

In this international learning environment, you’ll build knowledge in a specialised set of engineering topics as relevant to the automotive industry. An advantage of study at University West, you will also have easy access to the rich research environment in the PTC and PTW. This programme contains in-person labs and company visits, but it is possible to study either on campus or online.


Your programme prepares you for the current and future needs of industry, where mechanical engineers with specialised automotive training are required.

Companies are also looking for engineers with international interpersonal skills to improve effectiveness in global operations – an additional component of this programme. On graduation, you will be highly competitive for positions within the private sector or further advanced studies.

You will be considered for admission to the Master in Electric Vehicle Engineering if you fulfil the following entry requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering or equivalent. Additionally the Bachelor of Science degree must be comprised of a minimum of 5 HE credits in programming and 15 HE credits in mathematics.
