During the Psychology MSc programme offered at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, you will address these types of questions under the guidance of teachers with expertise in the various domains of psychology.


At the Psychology MSc programme offered at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam you will learn to approach complex problems from an academic perspective. You will also develop practical skills that you will apply in different contexts and with different target groups within your chosen track. 

There is a strong link with professional practice in the courses as well as in the master’s thesis and internship. In this way, you will be trained as a scientist-practitioner and you will be able to solve practical problems in a scientific way.

Future opportunities

  • As a psychologist with a master’s degree, you can often find a suitable job quickly.
  • You can also follow various postgraduate courses that train you to become a healthcare psychologist or a psychotherapist, for example.

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited research university including at least three full years of academic study amounting to a minimum of 180 ECTS or equivalent.
  • Typically, successful students in this programme have at least a 7,0 average grade (or an equivalent GPA score).

  • Thesis (using sufficiently advanced methodology and statistics)
