The Econometrics and Operations Research - Climate Econometrics MSc programme at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is the first in The Netherlands to bring together the field of econometrics and climate change science. In this specialization, you will enhance your data science skills and apply them to complex climate change science.  

Overview

The Econometrics and Operations Research - Climate Econometrics MSc programme at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is therefore unique in the Netherlands. The programme allows you to understand, create, and estimate econometric (climate-)models in order to analyze economic effects and to assist in policy making on climate change.

The courses are taught by inspiring teachers, econometric researchers and renowned climate scientists, in a collaboration between the Faculty of Science and the School of Business Economics. 

In the Age of Data, climate change science requires strong data analytics skills.

As the Econometrics and Operations Research programme offers you a wide variety of specializations and courses, you have a broad assortment of jobs and fields to choose from. General requirements

  • We welcome motivated and ambitious students who are interested in advancing their knowledge in Econometrics and related subjects, and are aware of their role in society. In order to be successful in this programme you will need a solid basis in mathematics, statistics and econometrics. 
  • In particular we expect that you have passed courses in mathematics (calculus, analysis), probability, mathematical statistics, and econometrics. A basic knowledge in computer programming is also required.
  • The track Econometrics of the Master's programme Econometrics and Operations Research, with specializations Climate Econometrics, Econometric Theory, Financial Econometrics, Empirical Marketing, and Quantitative Economics, is open to students with a university Bachelor's degree that provides a thorough knowledge in mathematics (analysis, calculus), probability, (mathematical) statistics, econometrics and computer programming.
