In the programme students gain a deeper knowledge of chemical engineering and have a unique opportunity to take part in future developments in this field. 

The Chemical Engineering programme is offfered by the Åbo Akademi University.  

Students gain top-level expertise for work in the chemical and process industries as well as in scientific research.

A Master of Science Degree in Technology is awarded upon successful completion of the programme.

Students participating in this study programme will strengthen their knowledge in materials technology, process chemistry and process systems engineering. The study programme is designed solely for students with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or corresponding degree. This programme leads to the degree Master of Science in Technology (in Swedish called diplomingenjör).

General Requirements

The programme is designed for students with a Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a corresponding degree. Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of how well the bachelor's degree corresponds to the programme and on the study merits of the student.

Language requirements

Applicants prove their level of language proficiency in English by submitting one of the following English-language test scores to their application:

Living costs for Turku

The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.

Funding

ÅAU's scholarship programme is aimed for tuition fee paying students and connected to the study entitlement.

We have 3 scholarship categories:

  • Full Scholarship, covering the tuition fee and includes a annual scholarship to cover the student’s living expenses (6 720 €), awarded for 2 years
  • Tuition Fee Scholarship, covering 100 % of the tuition fee, awarded for 2 years
  • Tuition Fee Scholarship, covering 50 % of the tuition fee, awarded for 2 years 

Second year is conditional. 

Students who have paid their fees during the first year will also have a chance to apply for a scholarship for the second year.
