You will be introduced to important theories about language teaching and learning, and links between theory and practice are continually emphasised throughout the course.
This postgraduate MA in Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (TESOL) at University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) provides a unique opportunity for students to enter the field of TESOL without having had prior teaching experience. There are five modules in total, which together enable you to experience varied and innovative perspectives of TESOL. You will learn about methods and approaches to teaching, and also focus on practical techniques as well as develop reflective and observational skills.
We have links with employers in TESOL, both in the UK and overseas, and there are employment and recruitment events organised by the university. We also keep you in touch with new opportunities and job advertisements both external and those linked to the University and its partnerships.
Work and volunteer opportunities are often available through the University Language Academy or partner institutions. These provide a great chance for students to develop their employability skills, and gain valuable experience in various areas of teaching and learning.
Opportunities also arise for students to become involved in research projects within the team.
