Delivering healthcare to communities affected by disasters, be they natural or man-made, is an aspect of healthcare that is both demanding and immensely rewarding. This Disaster Medicine course from University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) will see you acquire the specific skills and expertise required to adapt and respond to the needs of communities when they are at their most vulnerable.
Designed by medical professionals with experience in disaster and conflict medicine, the course also provides you with the skills required to plan, manage and deliver a medical programme under challenging conditions, whilst also considering ethical, legal and logistical issues.
The skills and knowledge gained on this course can be usefully applied on short-term deployments to a disaster zone, or in employment with international relief agencies and organisations.
Intercalating medical students may use this qualification as the foundation for further study and specialist practice following qualification.
The centre is accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons, a professional membership organisation and registered charity which exists to advance patient care.
