Overview

This Master’s Degree in Chemistry from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem  introduces for the first time the methods and techniques of scientific research in a particular area of Chemistry. However, students also broaden their knowledge of chemistry through a selection of taught courses and are able to tailor their curriculum to meet personal research interests.

Graduates of this program have many opportunities to use their knowledge within a range of research sectors, including leading roles within chemical and related industries, hi-tech, healthcare, educational institutions or public services. Masters of Chemistry are in high demand in essentially all branches of the national job market. Yet, the degree should be a degree of choice for students who plan to pursue PhD studies in one of the traditional or interdisciplinary sub-areas of the field.

  • Specialization in Organic, Inorganic, Biologic and Analytic chemistry
  • Specialization in Physical and theoretical chemistry
  • Specialization in Material chemistry and Applied nanotechnology
  • Chemistry with specialization in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology track

General requirements

  • To be accepted to the Master's program in Chemistry at the Hebrew University, a candidate should be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related subject. If the candidate studied at an Israeli University or College of Higher Education, the candidate will be considered with the GPA of 80 (on a 0-100 scale). Candidates having lower GPAs or holding degrees not in Chemical sciences may be admitted as Master’s Degree candidates only after formal approval by the Head of Chemistry Studies and may be required to complement studies with additional courses, depending on their background, GPA and the desired area of specialization.
  • Candidates with degrees from foreign universities are also eligible and are welcome to apply; in these cases, the degrees are first evaluated and approved as the HUJI equivalent by the HUJI Admissions Office.
