Overview
The Medical Physics programme from the University of Malta it is also an excellent preparation for research in both academia and industry in the above specialties and f medical devices and associated physical agents in general.
The programme lasts for three semesters of full-time studies, with the summer semester being entirely dedicated to the research project. This programme was the first Masters in Medical Physics programme in Europe to follow the recommendations of the European Guidelines on the Medical Physics Expert' project in the specialty areas associated with ionising radiation.
Career opportunites and access to further studies
As a graduate holding a Master of Science in Medical Physics, you will be able to enter a career, both locally and internationally (provided that the necessary requirements are met) as a clinical medical physicist in a health care setting. If you would like to further your knowledge, or are interested in contributing your own research to existing literature in the field, then you may choose to enrol in a doctorate programme, which will widen your career opportunities. You will be able to choose from becoming a researcher, an academic, a radiation safety officer, or as an employee in the medical device industry.

- Applicants must be in possession of a first cycle degree obtained from this University, or from any other higher education institution approved by Senate for this purpose, and satisfy also the Special Course Requirements and any other conditions included
- The Course shall be open to applicants in possession of a Bachelor degree comprising 240 ECTS credits obtained with at least Second Class Honours in one of the following areas of study:
- Science with Physics as a main area of study or
- Physics, Medical Physics and Radiation Protection or
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering or
- Mechanical Engineering.
