We go further by giving you the detailed technical and creative skills to succeed in a rapidly expanding world of video game music.


During this Video Game and Media Composition programme of ThinkSpace Education, you will cover the skills taught in both our Composing for Video Games and Professional Media Composition degree courses.

Video games are now the largest single sector in the entertainment industry, closely followed by television. We train you to write for both in this wide ranging, challenging, creative and technical preparation to enter the industry as a composer of all types of composition.

On this course, you will learn:

  • To write in a wide variety of styles, using different compositional techniques.
  • Different ways of creating an interactive video game experience, allowing the score to respond seamlessly to gameplay.
  • A wide variety of market sectors from animation to trailers, documentary to feature films.
  • To use FMOD and WWise to implement your music interactively in fully functional Unity games, many specially licenced for the course, including commercial releases.
  • About music business, copyright, how to find work, how to pitch, create a demo reel and develop a career.
  • The technical and creative aspects of writing to picture, spotting a film, and working with hitpoints and markers.


On successful conclusion of your course, you will be awarded a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Chichester. All UK degrees, including those of the University of Chichester, are recognised worldwide. The qualification is fully accredited in the UK and subject to regular quality control, review and external invigilation to ensure the highest academic standards are maintained.

All tutors are current working professionals, many at the highest level in the business. They have credits including Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Iron Man: Armoured Adventures, Bioshock, Pokémon Movies, Batman: Arkham Origins and hundreds more. Your main application must be in by the 1st of the month before your start date. Any supporting portfolio and documentation can be handed in 2 weeks later.


240 alternative credits

You will mostly be graded on your practical ability. All assignments come with written write-ups where you will detail your approach. Each module will have at least one 'Formative' assignment, which is considered research and practice for the final 'Summative' assignment, which will be your final grade for that module. All Summative assignments are marked at least twice.

General requirements

Applicants are required to have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in any subject. There is no 'Recognition of Prior Learning' application route for the MFA courses.

Technological requirements

Being an online degree, students are required to have the equipment they need to produce their own work. All students are quoted in GBP. All invoices are through the payment provider 'Flywire'. This allows you to pay the full fee in your home currency.


For UK students, you may be eligible for government student loans to pay for your course fees, maintenance and additional equipment. This amount is paid directly to you by the Student Loan Company.
