Overview of the Biology - Plant Biology programme at the University of Hradec Králové

Students focused on Biology & Ecology of Plants take seminars and practices of plant ecology applications, wetland plants, plant communities and ecosystems of Europe, plant physiology, and many others. 

Students participate in research. They are engaged in various projects in conjunction with neighbouring institutes (VUOS Pardubice, VUO Holovousy) and in other projects, most of themn international. Main research interests include botanical research of protected areas, physiology of plants, entomology, parasitology, bioology of chordates, cell and molecular biology, microbiology, agrochemistry, geomorphology, and geo-dendrology.

Career prospects 

Graduates become experts who can work in public inspection institutions dealing with the environment and the protection of nature, research and service laboratories focused on biology, ecology or biomedicine, and cultural and educational institutions focused on ecological education and scientific activities.

  • Landscape Ecology, Forest Ecology, Near-Natural Restoration and Biological Conservation
  • Biotopes of the Czech Republic and Vegetation of Central Europe and the Mediterranean
  • Ecotoxicology 
  • Hydrobiology
