Overview
It takes a uniquely interdisciplinary approach, both by focusing on the interfaces between subdomains of linguistics, and by bringing in interfaces with allied fields. Most courses are taught by faculty cross-appointed in other units. Furthermore, students at the Linguistics MA program at Carleton University will be able to take graduate courses in related areas such as cognitive science, French, language acquisition, language documentation and psycholinguistics. You can find a list of our renowned and dedicated faculty on this website: Scroll down to see the list of cross-appointed faculty and visiting scholars.
At the graduate level, we also offer a Graduate Diploma in Linguistics, a PhD in Linguistics, Language Documentation and Revitalization and an MA and PhD in Applied Linguistics & Discourse Studies.
