Overview
Economics is perhaps the social science that requires the highest use of quantitative methods.
Embarking on the Corruption and Economic Development research degree at Abertay University provides you with the opportunity to acquire skills in data analysis and statistical packages that are highly transferable in the labour market. Abertay, through the Graduate School, offers specialised training that allows you to master these quantitative techniques.
The vibrant research culture within our Graduate School encourages areas of cross and interdisciplinary working, allowing you to interact with researchers from other areas. Abertay is a member of the SGSSS network – a collaboration of Scottish universities whose goal is to provide world-leading postgraduate education and research.
A research degree at Abertay is excellent preparation for a career as a researcher, an academic, as well as a diverse range of professions outside of academia, for example, working in public policy.
The research degrees
You have the option of studying an MSc by Research, an MPhil or a PhD.
When deciding which degree is right for you, you should consider the level of commitment required, the duration, cost and your career aspirations.
That being said, our research degrees are flexible. You can begin an MSc or an MPhil and then seek to transfer to a PhD without having to start your project all over again. You can also switch from full-time to part-time study, and vice versa.
