Overview
Imagery intelligence. Elevation data. Vector and infrared maps. Geospatial intelligence specialists use a range of tools and resources to identify and assess information about a physical location, its features, and any related human activity. This information allows leaders to make critical decisions.
Geospatial intelligence, or GEOINT, influences policy, military, diplomatic, environmental, and disaster recovery operations at every level of government. With roots in the armed forces, GEOINT today benefits many commercial and nonprofit organizations: agriculture, energy, automotive, real estate, travel, meteorological, and first-responders, to name a few.
With the power of geospatial intelligence to see what others cannot, careers in the field are rising in demand.
Prepare for an In-Demand Field
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, several intelligence- and security- and mapping-related positions will grow significantly faster than the average occupation through 2028, including:
- Information security analyst: 32% growth
- Operations analyst: 26% growth
- Cartographer: 15% growth
A master’s degree in geospatial intelligence can also prepare you for public and private sector positions like:
- Geospatial intelligence analyst
- Operations specialist
- Intelligence officer
- Regional and Sector risk analyst
Build On Your Past Experience
