About

The aim of the four-semester Mathematics master program at Chemnitz University of Technology is to train highly qualified graduates in mathematics who are capable of successfully dealing with challenges encountered in academic and practical working fields.

Overview

The Mathematics program at Chemnitz University of Technology also covers basic education in a non-mathematical minor chosen by the student from subjects such as Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Computer Science, or Economics and Business Administration. Upon completion of the Master degree, particularly qualified students can enter directly into the Ph.D. program.

Learning outcomes

Throughout the program, current topics in applied mathematics and pure mathematics are taught by internationally renowned scientists in comprehensive lecture series. All lecture topics are discussed in depth in tutorials. 

According to personal interest, starting from the third semester students select a specialization such as optimization, numerics, stochastics or algorithmic mathematics. Continuous feedback regarding academic performance is given to the students in the tutorials to the lectures and three seminars which have to be completed successfully.
