The Master in Human Assisted Reproductive Technologies from UPF Barcelona School of Management is designed to provide the resources and skills to meet the challenges posed by the rapid changes currently occurring in the field of assisted reproduction.


The Master in Human Assisted Reproductive Technologies from UPF Barcelona School of Management is designed to meet the growing need for Assisted Reproductive technologies (ART) professionals, providing the students with skills as doctors and embryologist, and empowering practitioners to operate highly sophisticated ART programs, offering complex treatment to infertile patients. 

This course focuses on the transition from a training philosophy centered on technical execution (good hands) to one focused on critical thinking, evidence based implementation and innovation adoption (good thinking). 

Through the program students will work on their qualitative and quantitative analytical skills inside the evidence based medicine (EBM) field as well as improve both the individual and team based approaches to reproductive research and clinical care.


  • To obtain a solid theoretical knowledge of human reproduction, endocrinology and embryology, including a broad grasp of the pathology of reproduction, and the clinical and laboratory interventions currently used to treat infertility.
  • To understand of the importance of ethics in ART and the ethical challenges posed by novel genetic and medical technologies applied to reproductive medicine. 
  • To obtain knowledge of the regulatory and legal framework governing ART across different world regions. To appreciate the need of transitioning from a method-centered paradigm to a patient-centered paradigm.
  • To understand and apply properly genetic technologies in ART.
  • To gain hands on experience with basic embryology laboratory techniques.
  • To acquire proficiency in oocyte pickup and embryo transfer using clinical simulators.

  • The Master in Human Assisted Reproductive Technologies is aimed at graduates in medicine, biomedical sciences, biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, veterinary, pharmacy and related fields.
  • Candidates must present an official English Certificate as evidenced by an English language advanced certification or evident from the candidate CV and personal interview with the Admissions Committee.
  • Previous advanced degrees (Master, PhD) or relevant professional experience are considered a plus.
