The key purpose of the Physics and Engineering - Quantum and Hybrid Materials programme at ITMO University  is to train Master's students who specialize in interdisciplinary research in the field of quantum mechanical modeling of new materials and low-dimensional systems, as well as experimental research in such dynamically developing fields as nanophotonics, materials science, and life science.


The Physics and Engineering - Quantum and Hybrid Materials programme at ITMO University offers two possible educational tracks: Quantum Materials (computer modeling of functional materials and physics of low-dimensional structures) and Hybrid Materials (special sections of chemistry and cell biology, materials science, experimental nanophotonics). 

An interdisciplinary approach to studies allows covering advanced research fields of modern science, which opens up a variety of opportunities for the graduates and boost their competitiveness both in science and industry. The program’s comprehensive curriculum includes such courses as Quantum Mechanical Modeling of New Materials, Modern Methods of Optical Micro-and Spectroscopy, Introduction to Materials Science, Quantum Optics, Spintronics, and Machine Learning Methods.
