Globalisation trends and technological advancement are presenting supply chain managers with new challenges. This programme is an optimal way of preparing to meet those challenges as it combines academic studies of the contents, concepts and methodologies of supply chain management with a distinct practical orientation.

About

Applicants can look forward to small groups that ensure interactive lessons and personal attention, state-of-the-art teaching and learning concepts, the strong integration of case studies from actual practice and field trips. All this gives students the best possible opportunity to acquire further subject-specific knowledge, apply expert methods and gain the social competences that are necessary for a high-level career in supply chain management.

To put it in a nutshell, as a graduate student you will be able to apply what you learn to the solving of problems in actual practice. You will therefore be grooming yourself to be an excellent future manager in the field of supply chain management and logistics.

Supply chain management has an integrative function; its primary purpose is to connect business functions and business processes within a company and between companies to an interconnected and efficient business model. Supply chain management incorporates all logistics and production management activities and governs the coordination of processes in and between the areas of marketing, sales, research, development and finance as well as information technology. 

Programme objectives:
  • You will be familiar with the strategies and goals, instruments and methodology of supply chain management as well as with related structures and procedures. You will be able to model, analyse and evaluate supply chains by implementing suitable methodologies.
  • You will be familiar with the possibilities and implications of implementing suitable information technologies and electronic data processing. You will understand the key SCM technologies and be able to contribute to decisions about the introduction and utilisation of new technologies.
  • You will have learned about the instruments and methodologies used in supply chain management control and will thus be able to use them when modelling, analysing, evaluating and designing supply chains.
  • You will have developed the sensitivity needed to recognise conflicting goals and the resulting need for coordination in supply chains.  You will have acquired essential social and leadership skills through training courses in conflict resolution, behavioural skills and intercultural communication.
  • You will be well versed in the special requirements needed to manage internationally orientated supply chains.
  • You will be able to present and lead discussions in German and in English about the contents and concepts covered in the course of your studies.
