Overview
You will develop an in-depth understanding of the topics that are defining the industry today and will gain advanced technical skills in areas such as application design, computer network security, system development and big data and cloud computing.
You will be taught in Northumbria’s brand new purpose-built computing facility on our Newcastle City Centre campus with access to industry standard equipment and technology.
Internship
This option offers the opportunity to spend three months working full-time to gain all-important work experience and employability skills. You may be able to extend this over more than one semester in cases where it is adjacent to a vacation period. We will endeavour to help those who prefer this option to source opportunities and to perfect their CV but ultimately the onus is on the student to secure the internship position through a competitive application process.

General requirements
- A minimum of a 2:2 honours degree in a computing-related discipline which included programming in an object-oriented language, system analysis and design, databases, computer operating systems and networks. Other subject qualifications, equivalent professional qualifications and/or relevant work experience will be considered on an individual basis.
