
Overview
The School of Music at Florida International University offers a Master of Music degree with a concentration in conducting in the following areas: choral, orchestral, and wind.
The Conducting - Choral program provides an education in the arts enabling FIU’s conductors and musicians to assume leadership roles as professional conductors, performers and educators and to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century with flexibility and ingenuity. The successes of graduates of FIU’s conducting programs are attested to by the numerous alumni working internationally as conductors, educators, and scholars. Here, you will have significant podium time in rehearsals and performances.
Vision and Mission
The Florida International University School of Music serves over 300 music majors from eighteen countries with twenty-two full-time faculty and thirty adjunct faculty members. FIU offers the Bachelor of Music degree with concentrations in string, vocal, wind, brass, percussion, and keyboard performance; composition; jazz performance; music technology; and Music Education. Graduate programs include the Master of Music in composition, conducting, jazz, music technology, and performance. FIU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the School of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
