 MS in Nursing - Nurse Generalist at Northern Arizona University prepare nurses to work at advanced levels of practice in rural areas. We offer an MS in Nursing in two specialty tracks, and one post-graduate FNP certificate. 

 The Nurse Generalist Track was designed for the RN who desires to build a professional clinical foundation of practice exploring a selected emphasis relevant to his or her advancement goals. While not a specialty focus, this plan allows the RN with a prior baccalaureate degree to continue to develop expertise within a desired emphasis.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program or an associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited program with a bachelor’s degree in another field.
  • 3.0 GPA in all nursing coursework
  • Current RN license in good standing to practice as a registered nurse in Arizona, or eligibility to obtain an Arizona license, or meet the Arizona Board of Nursing regulations regarding multistate licensure.
  • 3 letters of recommendation
  • Prerequisites (completed prior to enrolling in the program)
