In our high-tech society there is a great need for advanced knowledge about materials, because the materials often determine a product’s quality, durability, functionality etc. By studying Materials Technology at Aalborg University you can participate in the development of the materials of the future.

During the two-year Master's programme in Materials and Nanotechnology with specialisation in Materials Technology at Aalborg University, you will obtain an understanding of the issues that industrial production companies, consulting engineering companies, certification companies, and research institutions meet when they produce and use materials. Furthermore, you will learn how to apply this knowledge in practice. You will gain knowledge of different engineering materials such as plastic, composite materials, alloys, and steel, while you also gain a competence profile in the field of solid mechanics. The programme is cross-disciplinary and contains elements from physics, chemistry, nanotechnology, and traditional mechanical engineering. In your semester projects, you and your project group will work with complex and often interdisciplinary issues in relation to materials technology. You are encouraged to occasionally collaborate with external organisations and businesses in your projects to get an idea of the work processes and current issues in the industry. This will prepare you better for your own work life after you graduate. This is a full-time study programme, which is characterised by problem based project work in groups. You will be working closely with other students most of the time, and you are required to be present at the university on a daily basis and spend a vast majority of your day there. The Master’s programme entitles you to the designation Master of Science (MSc) in Engineering (Materials and Nanotechnology with specialisation on Materials Technology). As a graduate, you will be able to work in private or public companies where a central part of the job is an extensive knowledge of the properties of materials, knowledge of manufacturing and processing methods, and the interaction between these.

You can work in both Danish and international industrial production companies, consulting engineering companies, certification companies, and research institutions.
