Overview

The science of Geography is the all-encompassing study of the planet upon which we live. Contrary to common public perception, it is not just the study of where things are, but rather the study of how those things came to be there in the first place, and how they have changed and will change over time.

This study accounts for both the influences of nature (Physical Geography) and humans (Human Geography). Through this understanding, Geospatial scientists can employ GIS to manage, analyze and model these spatial relationships, and predict the future form and location of these phenomena.

This Geoscience with a focus in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from the Florida Atlantic University  leads to a specialization in Geographic Information Sciences, which empower geographers to both map, analyze and model the spatial patterns associated with both aforementioned sub-disciplines.

Students will be afforded the opportunity to employ a variety of interdisciplinary methods including field work, remote sensing, programming, and mathematical modeling to assess the spatial patterns of humans, animals, and plants in nature and the dynamics of their interactions.
