Substance abuse is an escalating problem in modern culture, and the toll it takes on society can be seen in healthcare and correctional facilities nationwide. Preventing and finding effective treatment at this scale can be difficult, however. The Master of Prevention Science from the University of Oklahoma is an accredited, flexible, and affordable degree program designed to help you take on the real-world challenges facing communities today. In this program, you will learn the theoretical and real-world skills necessary to help others fight addiction, and you will graduate prepared to pursue the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium’s Certified Prevention Specialist (IC & RC CPS) credential, the most respected credential in prevention.

What to expect:

The Master of Prevention Science is a fast-paced, accelerated program designed to accommodate working adults. When you are admitted into the program, you will be assigned an advisor who creates an individualized graduation plan. This plan will help organize and identify the courses you need for your degree.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
