... will be capable of conceiving basic scientific, especially biochemical and biophysical problems. They are able to plan and execute experiments in order to answer scientific questions. Based on the knowledge obtained in a bachelor’s degree, students acquire additional skills and know-how which enables them to develop solutions even in situations where the actual methods are not sufficient. Interdisciplinary experimental and applications are considered as important tools.

They will be able to understand contemporary scientific publications, challenge the results of their own work and that of others and present them to an audience. The Master course Biochemistry and Biophysics is at the University of Strasbourg designed to provide graduates with the necessary basics to continue their education in a doctoral school on a high international level.

Students who start in Strasbourg, will take courses in Physical Chemistry during the first year. The second year will take place in Freiburg. They will do two short internships during the third semester and then write their master thesis in the fourth semester.
Students who start in Freiburg, will take courses in Biochemistry & Biophysics during the first year. The second year will take place in Strasbourg. There, they will follow specialized courses in the field of biophysics and physical chemistry and then write their master thesis during the fourth semester.
In order to strengthen the intercultural skills of students, they will attend an intercultural seminar and you will participate in a number of scientific conferences proposed by both partners. It is strongly recommended to take a language course of the partner language you master the least (French or German).

This master course is addressed to students with a Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS credits) in chemistry, biochemistry, physical chemistry or related disciplines. Students must have sufficient specialized language skills in German and English or French and English.
