The MSc in Applied Archaeological Sciences, comprised by 10 Modules, has been designed by the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO in order to provide the necessary knowledge and expertise to students, researchers, managers and leaders of the Cultural Heritage sector.

Overview

Aims and objectives

On a theoretical level, at the production and transmission of scientific knowledge in the areas of applied modern technology in archeology of life-long learning, the education of new graduates and adults and e-learning, as well as the methodology of scientific research in the field of archaeometry, archaeology of the S.E. Mediterranean and the World, extends on the digital archeology and basic principles of conservation and management of antiquities, both as education and training. In terms of professional practice, the acquisition of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the development and implementation of pilot archaeological programs and digital heritage in education in the Delphi in situ fieldwork activities.

In order to achieve the goals of the MSc in Applied Archaeological Sciences at the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO, the following objectives were developed:

  • to equip students with a strong background in the standard but wide interdisciplinary core curriculum of archaeological sciences subjects.
  • to provide students with a firm grasp of the cultural, digital, technological, managerial, economic, educational and social forces, that produce sustainability, shaping the globalising trends of the world in the 21st century, as seen in the structure and functioning of the cultural heritage, archaeological & touristical  ‘industry’.
  • to provide a foundational and contextual approach to the appreciation of archaeometric tools and the related socioeconomic & educational issues.
  • to explain the cultural heritage environment in which the archaeological organizations and cultural heritage market, are organized and to answer the basic questions on how they contribute to the National and World cultural legacies.
  • to provide an innovative, "hands-on" approach to instruction directed by a dedicated faculty composed of experts in their fields in the Delphi fieldwork.
  • to provide a good grounding for a variety of careers in a range of development, & management functions of public and private sector.

Other requirements

General requirements

  • Academic title awarded at a University or a post-secondary title awarded in non-University Higher Institute allowing, in the local country, continuing further university studies (only in the case in which the secondary study titles was awarded upon completion of at least 12-year schooling period). Official translation in the Italian language and consular legalization of the title.
  • Declaration of value of the title issued by the Italian Diplomatic Representation competent for the territory; 
  • University certificate – duly checked by the Diplomatic Representation – stating the exams passed as well as each discipline, detailed programs and hours of theoretical-practical training activity envisaged for the title awarded. The post-secondary studies (exams and credits) already completed can be stated by the “diploma supplement”, in countries where applicable.
