The interdisciplinary Master of Science in Global Media and Cultures prepares students to pursue professional careers that require advanced training in communication and media as well as expertise in a particular linguistic region of the world. The curriculum provides a theoretical grounding in media and cultural studies, advanced training in a critical global language, and hands-on cross-cultural experience that prepares students for the professional world.
At Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) the MS-GMC is offered in six tracks: Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. To graduate, students must complete 30 credit hours and demonstrate expertise in a specialized area of global media and culture through (1) targeted coursework in LMC and ML, (2) the defense of a professional portfolio, and (3) the completion of a culminating project (thesis, internship, or individual project).
