Overview
Key Features
Specialisations are possible in the following focus areas:
- Applied Analysis
- Applied Statistics
- Discrete Mathematics
The in-depth specialisation is based on a prior common mathematical foundation across all three areas.
Students can acquire an additional application-oriented qualification by taking the extension subjects Informatics and Information and Communications Engineering. This gives them an introduction to the interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of technical subjects offered at the University of Klagenfurt. The actual range of interdisciplinary opportunities for cooperation upon completion of the Master’s degree in Mathematics is substantially wider, ranging from engineering and natural and life sciences to business and finance.
This education provides students with the in-depth qualifications necessary to be deployed in the finance and insurance sector, in high-tech companies, in the consultancy branch, in the medical and pharmaceutical field, and also in research and post-secondary education. The pronounced practical relevance of the Master’s degree, based on a broad and deep scientific foundation, further enhances our graduates’ career opportunities. The Mathematics programme from University of Klagenfurt also prepares students for a doctoral degree in Mathematics or Statistics or, more generally, in technical and natural science subjects.
