Overview
The Emergency Nursing program at the University of Sydney is about an exciting specialty that requires the application of advanced knowledge to a challenging and diverse group of patients who are experiencing acute and sometimes life-threatening conditions. As an emergency nursing student, you will develop the knowledge and skills to assist emergency presentations, support the patient and family at a time of great vulnerability, and assist them with their journey either to hospital admission or safe discharge home.
During this one and a half year degree, you will learn from leading researchers in the field of emergency nursing care as you build upon your individual clinical experience. You will learn to anticipate and prioritise patient care, provide accurate assessment, intervention and effective ongoing management, often in a busy, autonomous and stressful environment. A work-based project or research thesis will comprise the capstone experience of this degree, providing the opportunity for you to apply your expertise as you explore a particular area of your interest.
