Health (Research)

Overview

This course is available either as a research-only pathway, or a coursework and research program. It can be taken as an intensive 2- year course, or part-time online course. Each research project will be planned, developed and carried out under the supervision of a leading academic or industry partner in the field.

This course is designed specifically to help you develop the critical research skills and experience needed to research the health field of your choice.

Upon completion of this course, you will have written and produced a thoroughly researched and documented a research paper or thesis and have it made available for presentation purposes and peer review. 

Study a Master of Health (Research) from University of Canberra and you will:

• develop a focused, answerable research question, plan a research project, develop an ethics proposal

• use qualitative and quantitative research methods and use that information to undertake a systematic literature review at a master’s degree level

• plan develop and conduct research to answer your research question

• evaluate and understand the scientific literature in your field to gain advanced knowledge of current trends and future research options

• develop the skills necessary to communicate the results of your work

• deliver a well-researched and documented research paper or thesis

• become recognised for your research in this field.

Career opportunities

A Master of Health (Research) will lead you into a career as a specialist health professional and as a result, can then open further career options as an expert advisor and consultant in health or health-related fields for both government and private health sectors.

Completion of this course also offers a direct pathway into a Ph.D. in Health, through criteria-based transfer or further study.
