About

The Pre-Masters in Law from International Foundation Group is designed for graduates wanting to progress onto an LLM or other law related  Master’s degree in the UK. It is a full time course focusing on different aspects of UK and international law including English legal system, contract law, law of tort, equity and trusts, and international law.

Overview

There is a strong emphasis on developing the learning and research skills required for studies at postgraduate level in the UK. The study skills module in the first semester includes instruction on referencing and avoiding plagiarism, completing literature reviews, different research methodologies and approaching case study questions.

Methods of teaching and learning encourage students to evaluate, analyse, and apply information, and to appreciate the relationship between theories and concepts and the real world of legal practice. They also study communication skills and improve their approach to different employment contexts such as delivering effective presentations and making a good impression at interviews.

We appreciate that for students whose first language is not English, achieving the necessary IELTS score to meet university entry requirements is a daunting prospect. On our programme, you will receive six hours tuition of Academic English per week throughout the course specifically focused on the IELTS test.

As an integral part of the Pre-Masters in Law from International Foundation Group, students are given one-to-one assistance in choosing and applying to law related Masters courses at UK universities. External expert speakers supplement the teaching programme and trips to universities and other places of specific interest to law students are arranged such as the Courts of Justice and the chambers of legal firms.

English Language Courses

IFG offers a range of general and more specialist English Language courses which can be taken separately or as part of a combined programme.

Whether you want to improve your IELTS grade or improve your communication skills for business purposes, our qualified and experienced teachers will help you to make the most of your time with us.  Teaching takes place in small groups which means that tutors can focus more easily on the specific needs of individual students. It is also possible to combine group lessons with one-to-one sessions.

Progressions to UK Universities

IFG programmes are recognised are accepted by a wide range of universities including East Anglia, Essex, Reading, Coventry and Kingston. We also have progression routes to International Year One programmes at Keele, Sussex, Strathclyde and several others. These courses are ideal for students who will benefit from additional language support and, on successful completion, offer direct entry into Year Two of degree programmes.

Our students also receive offers from a wide variety of UK universities and we are able to guarantee that all students who pass our courses and gain a sufficiently high language qualification will receive offers for degree courses from UK universities.
