The Education Practice programme at Bournemouth University is committed to enhancing the student learning experience by fostering dynamic approaches to teaching and learning through creativity, innovation and continuous development. This programme provides you with the opportunity to engage in educational scholarship, which is integrated with your research and/or professional activities.

You can also take the PG Dip stage options as part of continuing professional development or gain 20 credits after successful completion of the assessment. The full MA may enable progression to doctoral level study. Completion of all or part of this programme will help you evidence your knowledge, understanding and skills around education practice. 

On this course you will be taught by a range of staff with relevant expertise and knowledge appropriate to the content of the unit. This will include senior academic staff, qualified professional practitioners, demonstrators, technicians and research students.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: Upper Second Class

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Upper Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

The normal requirements for embarking upon a postgraduate taught degree are:
  • A Bachelors Honours degree with 2:1 in any subject or equivalent.
  • Applicants should be teaching in a practice or academic setting.
  • Applicants who do not meet our standard academic entry requirements may be offered an interview to discuss their suitability for the course.
