Students pursuing all majors learn and utilize contemporary technology and software, preparing them to be competitive job candidates in both the public and private sector. We aim to produce society-ready professionals through hands on learning, career development, leadership opportunities, internships and undergraduate research opportunities.

The M.S. program requires a minimum of 24 semester hours of graduate course work and 6 semester hours of thesis research and writing for a total of 30 semester hours. This degree program allows students to obtain a specialized advanced degree in any of the subject areas within the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture (ATCOFA), including Forest Management, Forest Economics, Recreation Management, Resource Interpretation, Wildlife Management, Agroforestry, Wood Science, Urban Forestry, Forest Entomology, Hydrology, Forest Ecology, Silviculture, Soil Science and Spatial Science. The M.S. degree program is appropriate for students who have an undergraduate degree in forestry or a related field and also for students with degrees in other areas. Background work may include courses in each of the following areas: Forest Biology, Forest Resources Inventory, Social Forestry, Forest Ecosystem Management and Forest Resources Administration.

    PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. Delivered and marked by computer, it reports on a scale between 10 and 90.

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree with 2.5 GPA overall, 3.0 GPA in major
  • At least a 79 on the TOEFL, 6.5 on the IELTS, or 53 on the PTE.
  • Have your official GRE/GMAT scores sent to SFA (Once you have applied, you will be notified of the requirement for your chosen program)
  • students for whom English is a second language require a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper) or 213 (computer) or 80 (Internet) or a minimum IELTS score of 6.5.
