Our Masters in Conservation, Management and Restoration of Biodiversity is a pioneering qualification which encompasses the disciplines of biology, environmental sciences, and experimental sciences.

About

  • The programme has been designed in line with needs analysis studies conducted with undergraduate and postgraduate students, in consultation with the Official Andalusian School of Biologists (Colegio Oficial de Biólogos de Andalucía), as well as diverse organizations and companies from the sector.
  • Our Masters aims to provide students with advanced, specialized and multidisciplinary training in biodiversity and its conservation and restoration, enabling students to understand complex interactions between resources, technology and the natural environment with a view to urgently tackling key challenges. As a student on the course, you will learn how to design and evaluate global and sustainable solutions to these challenges, employing scientific rigour and cutting-edge skills.
  • The course has been designed both for those who wish to conduct further doctoral studies in the field, as well as those who wish to embark on a professional career in public administrations and/or the private sector.
  • The programme is made up of 7 modules: Fundamentals; Biodiversity; Conservation and Management; Global Change; Bioprospecting and Natural Resources; Internship; and a Masters Dissertation.
  • Our course boasts a number of key advantages. Our staff, many of whom work in the private sector, have considerable professional and teaching experience in the four main areas that make up the programme. Students also have the opportunity to complete an internship at a local or national company. These companies offer hands-on training in diverse areas within the areas of management, conservation and restoration. Moreover, Granada is recognized as a key biodiversity hub in Europe, surrounded by numerous nature reserves (located 30km away from the Sierra Nevada Natural Park and 60 km from the tropical coast).
  • Employment prospects for graduates from our programme are highly favourable. Many choose to pursue a career in areas such as environmental auditing; land management; conservation of flora and fauna; reforesting; waste and pollution management (industrial, agricultural, urban waste); consultancy firms; marine biology; public environmental services; population management; water management; organic agricultural production; rural tourism; forest fire management; forestry; game management (hunting); sustainable management of natural resources; research and development; gardening centres and gardening; medicinal plant production and homeopathy; rural development; international development and cooperation; animal behaviour; nuclear safety; and scientific dissemination and outreach.
