Political Science at Södertörn University offers training in social sciences methodology and aims to give you tools so that can develop your analytical and problem-solving abilities. The programme has a particular focus on democracy and governance.
This Master’s degree focuses on these issues and others. It will enhance your ability to conduct political analysis and improve your problem-solving skills, provide training in the methodology used in the social sciences and develop your ability to autonomously apply these skills to your studies.
The programmes also make use of research performed by members of staff and link theory-driven, normative, empirical and conceptual analyses. You will study political power and organization in both specific and wider senses, both within and between various societal and analytical levels.
This Master’s programme will provide you with the skills to independently apply and appraise the application of theories, methodologies, concepts, assumptions, and analytical tools in political science research vis-à-vis political practices and processes at all levels, and to do so in an informed and scholarly manner.
You will learn to lucidly and concisely summarise, compile, and communicate the results of results, analyses, and investigations in the field of political science, as well as to discuss how affirmative and critical knowledge perspectives and modes of operation are used in political science.
Courses on the programme are designed to help you learn to autonomously formulate research tasks and evaluate the production of knowledge in political science, especially as regards core scientific, societal, institutional, political, and ethical aspects of the scientific study of politics.
They also encourage appraisal and reflection on the use and limitations of perspectives, concepts, tensions, and methods in political science research, which includes past and present research projects in political science at Södertörn university.
