Overview

Sustainable Architecture Studies degree offered at University of Sheffield has an interdisciplinary approach. It will inspire and enable you to pursue innovative research and design strategies for the built environment. You will be encouraged to develop a critical stance in relation to theories of sustainable architecture.

By the end of the course, you will possess the skills to produce complex design proposals that adopt a holistic approach to design and address the social, economic and environmental aspects of sustainable architecture.

Through our teaching and research, we explore the social, spatial and environmental implications of architecture. As a Sheffield student you will engage with real issues affecting the built environment.

Teaching

Your work in the design studio is supported through lectures, seminars, tutorials and practical computer work.

Assessment

Assessment is by course-based assignments and a dissertation.

  • You’ll need a 2:1 honours degree or equivalent qualification related to architecture, building science, engineering, construction, planning, building management or related built environment disciplines. You will also need to submit your design portfolio or a related piece of writing.
  • If your degree isn’t design based but you have a lot of professional experience we’ll consider your application.
