Overview

The Clinical Endodontics  programme offered by the University of South Wales  is designed to strengthen knowledge and understanding in the field of endodontology, improve clinical skills in all aspects of endodontic diagnosis, treatment planning and clinical treatment, and hopefully lead to increased job satisfaction.

You will undertake clinical work placements at the Department of Restorative Dentistry at Morriston Hospital and Port Talbot Resource Centre. Lectures will take place on the University’s Glyntaff campus.

Teaching

There will be an emphasis on lecture and seminar-driven teaching before progressing to the hands-on, clinical components. Lectures and “Phantom-head” type teaching will occur over six days toward the beginning of year one, and live clinical practice occurs over six further days in the second half of the year. In year two you will undertake further self-study and develop your practice case reports.

Careers

Graduates of this Clinical Endodontics course will, with continued practitioner experience, become skilled in endodontic techniques and have opportunities to tailor their practice in becoming a Dentist with Special Interest (DwSI). It is likely that a Clinical Endodontics qualification will enhance your prospect of joining DwSI lists as and when created by local health boards.

It is anticipated that this course could also be used as accreditation of prior and experiential learning (APEL) towards other postgraduate Masters programmes in endodontology or dentistry. You can also progress to a generic Masters qualification at University of South Wales.
