The Master of Arts in English Literature program at University of Saint Thomas Saint Paul is a dynamic intellectual community focused on intensive study of literature, writing, and new media. 


Learning outcomes

While investigating a diverse array of texts, students develop professional skills in advanced writing, speaking, editing, research, and textual analysis. They also have opportunities to gain work experience in editing, teaching, and program administration.  

Recent English Literature course at University of Saint Thomas Saint Paul offerings have included British, American, transatlantic, and anglophone literature as well as critical theory, creative writing, and professional editing. Our courses often explore interdisciplinary connections between literature, film, cultural studies, and art history.

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university verified by an official transcript.
  • Completed application. 
  • Three confidential letters of recommendation from individuals with knowledge of the applicant's relevant abilities and achievements. At least one must be from a former professor.
  • A personal statement of no more than 500 words describing the applicant's interest in art history and reasons for pursuing graduate studies at St. Thomas.
