About

Catering to the growing demand for strategic- and independent-thinking communication professionals able to assist organizations respond to the rapidly changing global environment, graduates of the Intercultural and International Communication (Blended) program at Royal Roads University will develop the skills necessary to communicate effectively in complex circumstances, making use of diverse media and communication genres, and engaging different audiences across multiple cultural settings. Students will explore intercultural and international communication theory, academic writing and communication, media relations in a global context, public affairs and advocacy, social marketing, and more.

The blended delivery model of the MA in Intercultural and International Communication program has been the preferred option for many students with significant professional experience and want to advance their career in intercultural and international communication.

The blended program incorporates online learning with an on-campus residency, students will also have the opportunity to complete a research paper (based on publicly available data, no live human subjects) to integrate theory and practice and demonstrate that you are well-versed in intercultural and international communication, and possess a well-developed perspective as a global citizen.

    C1 Advanced is a Cambridge English Qualification. It reports on the Cambridge English Scale between 142 and 210. You will receive a separate score for each of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and for Use of English. These five scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exam. Universities and colleges may ask you to achieve a specific score, either overall or for a particular skill.

    Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.

    PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. Delivered and marked by computer, it reports on a scale between 10 and 90.

Academic Requirements

STANDARD ADMISSION
  • Completion of a four-year (or comparable) undergraduate degree in a relevant field, with a minimum GPA of 'B' (3.00/4.33), from a recognized post-secondary institution. 
  • Normally, at least one year of work or volunteer experience, preferably in a leadership capacity. This experience should have immersed the applicant in a multicultural, intercultural, or international setting and fostered a basic understanding of intercultural communication.
