About

The Learning and Technology (Blended) programme offered by the Royal Roads University is founded upon principles of networked learning, openness and a digital mindset. Graduates of this program will be able to work in the creation and evaluation of digital learning environments and apply theoretical and practical knowledge to critically analyze learning innovations and assess their impact on organizations and society. The personalization of learning and the cross-sectoral skill set cultivated in the program enables graduates to lead and support their organizations to continually improve the learning experiences it offers.

The MA in Learning and Technology responds to the demand for qualified professionals in the field of technology-mediated learning and education and the need for management level individuals who have the knowledge, skills and ability to assume the leadership roles that are required to plan, design, develop, implement and evaluate contemporary learning environments.

The program is founded on principles of networked learning, open pedagogy and digital mindset, which allows students to create and build on their digital presence to collaborate meaningfully to digital learning communities in the field throughout their program. The virtual symposium at the beginning and end of the program is one of the many opportunities for students to engage in, cultivate and contribute back to these digital learning networks and communities as they learn more about facilitating in contemporary learning environments.

The program has three exit pathways; a thesis; secondary research paper or digital learning-consulting project. Graduates of the program work in the creation and evaluation of contemporary digital learning environments. They use their theoretical and practical knowledge to critically analyze learning innovations and assess their impact on organizations and society. The cross-sectoral skill set cultivated in the program enables graduates to lead and support their organizations to continually improve the learning experiences they offer.

English Language Requirements

    C1 Advanced is a Cambridge English Qualification. It reports on the Cambridge English Scale between 142 and 210. You will receive a separate score for each of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and for Use of English. These five scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exam. Universities and colleges may ask you to achieve a specific score, either overall or for a particular skill.

    Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.

    PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. Delivered and marked by computer, it reports on a scale between 10 and 90.

Academic Requirements

STANDARD ADMISSION
  • Four-year (or comparable) Education, Arts, Science, or other undergraduate degree in a related field, from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • At least three years of professional experience in a leadership or management position that is directly related to the MALAT program learning outcomes.
FLEXIBLE ADMISSION
  • At least seven years of work experience, with a minimum of two years of professional experience in a leadership or management position, that is directly related to the learning outcomes of the MALAT program.
  • Some undergraduate education or equivalent.
