The Higher Education Administration and Leadership (Blended) programme offered by the Royal Roads University is a two-year, 33-credit program that provides graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide effective leadership within complex and changing higher educational environments.

The Higher Education Administration and Leadership (Blended) programme offered by the Royal Roads University is designed for higher education administrators and leaders looking to advance their understanding and application of: systems thinking, leadership theory, higher education literature and research, critical thinking, strategic planning and leading meaningful change.

The program includes a Specialization in International Education for those students who wish to focus on leadership in international education contexts. The program offers the option of completing a research paper (secondary research) or a thesis (primary research). Students have to apply and be approved for the thesis route.

The MAHEAL program offers a thesis option for completion as well. Students are required to apply for the thesis option during their first year of the program. Thesis route students take a slightly different course combination in their second year.

Outcomes

Graduates will develop an understanding of educational improvement concepts and research and be able to apply practical tools and strategies to address issues, challenges, and opportunities related to supporting student achievement and institutional growth.

    C1 Advanced is a Cambridge English Qualification. It reports on the Cambridge English Scale between 142 and 210. You will receive a separate score for each of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and for Use of English. These five scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exam. Universities and colleges may ask you to achieve a specific score, either overall or for a particular skill.

    Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.

    PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. Delivered and marked by computer, it reports on a scale between 10 and 90.

  • Four year (or comparable) Education, Arts, Science, or other undergraduate degree in a related field, from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Minimum of 5 years paid work experience within the higher education sector, including some leadership experience
FLEXIBLE ADMISSION
  • To be considered for Flexible Admission, applicants would normally require a minimum of 7 years work experience in the higher education sector
