About

The Digital and Visual Communications (Computer Games Design) programme offered by the University of Wolverhampton attracts students from a wide range of disciplines and from all over the world, giving it a strong international flavour. The current cohort comes from as far afield as China, Nigeria, India, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Poland, Greece and Germany, as well as the UK.

The programme gives you the opportunity to develop your creative design abilities but also equips you with marketing and branding skills and knowledge essential for a career in the competitive market place that is International Visual Communications.

You will gain the intellectual and creative confidence to enable you to embrace the challenges and rewards of the Global Digital & Visual Communications industry. 

Through the investigation of a personally designed project you will have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge to a Masters Level, culminating in a showcase exhibition and portfolio. Opportunities exist to further develop your portfolio through PhD study within the department.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: Upper Second Class

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Upper Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

  • You should have a good Honours degree (2:1) or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • A good standard of written and spoken English is required.
  • You are also encouraged to apply if you have significant professional experience in a relevant subject
  • If you have a 2:2 class honours degrees (or lower) in a relevant subject: you can be registered for a Postgraduate Diploma. Successful completion of the Postgraduate Diploma at a good Pass level, allows you to progress to the Masters Programme
  • Offers are subject to an interview and portfolio review

  • University Postgraduate Loyalty Discount: If you have completed an undergraduate degree at the University of Wolverhampton, you may be eligible for a 20% discount on the first year of a taught postgraduate programme.
  • Financial Hardship: Students can apply to the Dennis Turner Opportunity Fund  for help with course related costs however this cannot be used for fees or to cover general living costs
