Student Experience

  • Students are enrolled as members of Queen's University Belfast but teaching is normally carried out through the constituent Theological Colleges, recognised to teach Theology on behalf of the University.
  • The MRes in Theology is ideal for students who wish to undertake an independent research project for academic and professional development. It encourages practical, analytical and critical research skills and project management capacities relevant to a variety of professional and intellectual contexts.
  • The Institute of Theology at Queen's co-ordinates the activities of the Religious Studies Research Forum, an interdisciplinary grouping of scholars from across the University and from the affiliated theological colleges interested in exploring themes and issues relating to religion in culture and society. It brings together researchers from fields as varied as history, philosophy, theology, literature, science and social science, fostering the sharing of ideas and collaboration on topics of recognised importance in current intellectual discourse. Open to postgraduate students as well as to academic staff, the Forum aims to host international symposia and major public lectures and to mount regular series of seminars with internal and also external speakers.
