Overview

It includes theory and critique seminars designed to develop creative and conceptual thinking; art history courses that integrate issues of contemporary art within a historical context; and elective studio courses in painting, drawing, digital photography and other media. 

The focus on studio practice with a conceptual and art-historical framework enables you to develop a portfolio of work for application to a Master of Fine Arts program. All courses are approved by UC Berkeley and take place in San Francisco. The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Visual Arts at Lincoln University Canterbury can be completed on a part-time or full-time basis.

Education

Course topics include theory/critique courses designed to develop creative and conceptual thinking; visual art history courses that function to integrate issues of contemporary art within a historical context; and visual arts electives chosen from a wide array of studio courses in painting, drawing, printmaking, photography and other media.

The programs offer a variety of undergraduate or graduate level courses. Current undergraduate students and recently graduated students are eligible to apply.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).
