Overview
The Agroforestry and Sustainable Agriculture master’s program from CATIE - The Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center is based on the vision of long-term, sustainable climate smart agroforestry and agriculture and systemic interactions in the four basic dimensions, ecological, social, economic and political.
Goals
This master´s program aims to train professional in leadership and skills to promote management and design processes of agroforestry and agricultural systems, as well as research in these fields. In order to do this, students are taught competences, knowledge, abilities, skills, capacities, attitudes and values that integrate biophysical dimensions with socioeconomic dimensions and environmental protection. The vision is holistic, integrated, systemic and multi-disciplinary, where conservation paradigms of productive capacity of ecosystems, of agro-biodiversity, valuation of externalities, equity, food security and improvement of the quality of life are basic elements.
