Overview

Many students have several years of work experience. The Juris Doctor Programme from  Singapore Management University is characterised by interactive (Socratic) teaching that helps students develop analytical, problem-solving, interdisciplinary and comparative law skills.

A rigorous curriculum is taught by an international faculty that includes teachers with backgrounds in practice, government and the judiciary. Very strong English language ability is required.

Career Opportunities

Students will qualify for legal practice in Singapore (admitted as Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore) if they attain a J.D.

GRE admission requirements GRE® The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.
GMAT admission requirements GMAT The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a test intended to assess certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA. GMAT contains 4 sections - Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative and Verbal. The score has a range from 200 - 800.

  • Completed an undergraduate education in any discipline with at least a Cum Laude or Second Class Upper Honours degree; or
  • Law graduates from a civil law country or a non-gazetted common law university with at least a Cum Laude or Second Class Upper Honours degree, or
